ONE DAY ONE VOICE ONE PURPOSE
November 8-14 , 2020
In September 2010 Alex Sam was looking at facebook as usual and he saw the day for Orphan Sunday. As someone who grew up in orphanages all his life. Being an orphan himself, he was attracted to this movement. He noticed that there was a father’s day, a mother’s day, a valentine day, labour day, children day etc. but no such specific days for orphans, where orphans were recognized. This idea was wonderful. So the same year itself he shared the idea to 5-6 close friends about coming together and observing the day. Earlier the first Sunday of November used to be celebrated as Orphan Sunday but then it was changed later to the second sunday of every November.
In 2018 We named it Sneha Sunday as this was more appropriate and we wanted this movement to be personal to every indian. In 2019, Alex was awarded as the International Coordinator of the year, which he dedicated to all volunteers and leaders participating in Sneha Sunday. More than 4000 Churches, Non-Government Organisations and individual groups observed Sneha Sunday. In the beginning of 2020, Mr. Naren and his wife Dimple took over the responsibility. They are currently based in Pune and serve as National Coordinators for Sneha Sunday.
"THROUGH THIS DAY, THE CHURCH SERVES AS A MODEL FOR SERVICE IN REACHING CHILDREN IN NEED."
